Time Frame

Books are available for rent for one term (either Summer School or Semester 1) or two terms (Semester 1 and 2).

Textbooks Not Returned

If your textbook is not returned by the end of your rental period, it will be deemed late, and you will be charged a fee which is used to cover the cost of replacing the textbook. This fee is equal to the recommended retail price of the book (as listed on campusbooks.co.nz) as if it were brand new, minus your rental costs. Once you textbook is late, you opt out of the rental agreement and the textbook becomes your property.

If you have not returned the textbook by the due date and we are unable to charge your credit/debit card, it is your responsibility to pay the fee immediately. You will be notified via email if your credit/debit card was declined and have 15 days to pay this fee before your account is turned over to a third-party collection agency. All accounts sent to collections are subject to an additional collection fee.

Property

During your textbook rental period, all textbooks remain the full property of Campus Books. Your acceptance of the textbook and paying rental prices entitles you to use the property of Campus Books for a limited amount of time and binds you to these Terms and Conditions. At the end of the textbook rental period, you exit out of these terms and conditions and lose all rights to the textbook.

Lost Textbooks

If your rented textbook is lost or stolen, you are responsible for the textbook. If you do not return the textbook at the end of your rental period, your credit/debit card will be charged to replace the textbook as per our terms.

Damaged Books

Books are required to be kept in good condition. If a book arrives to you damaged, you need to notify Campus Books within 3 days from the date of delivery. All textbooks need to be returned without damage. This is defined as the cover / binding having no noticeable damage, all pages being intact (no tears or stains present) and no writing / highlighting / underlining of the textbook. If a textbook is returned to us as damaged condition and rendered unusable, it will remain the property of Campus Books and you will be charged a fee depending on the damage.

If the textbook cannot be re-rented to another customer the fee will be equal to the recommended retail price of the book (as listed on campusbooks.co.nz) as if it were brand new, minus your rental costs.

Such a situation would be when the cover/binding is noticeably damaged or missing, pages are stained, torn, missing, illegible, or otherwise warped. Any other significant damage may also render the book unusable to rent to another customer.

If supplementary materials such as CDs, workbooks, study guides, etc are included with your book, they must be returned with your textbook.
